AirAsia – Now Everyone can Fly

AirAsia is really living up to its motto, ”Now everyone can fly.” How it manages to expand its network across the region at such low prices is a puzzle to everyone. AirAsia seems prepared to deliver by taking risks and taking people where they want to go.

Highlighting the new 4 times weekly Phuket Udonthani service that began on December 21 you can fly from for 1550 baht, which is not much more than the price of a bus fare and a more comfortable and faster.

Why would you want to go to Udonthani?  Well, you can do a quick visa run by then taking an 80-minute bus ride to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Vientiane sits on the Thai-Laos border with a relaxed feel about it and the French influence still alive. Salaries are small by comparison with Thailand, and life is so sweet that everybody has a siesta in the middle of the day.

Laos Beer is among the worlds most highly regarded and well-priced, which perhaps explains why everyone needs to take a nap. Shopping cheap with lots of bargains, silverware necklaces and bracelets and earrings of high quality, the local fabric is also worth picking up for a present or too. The temples in Udonthani are well worth a visit, too.

There will be plenty of people looking to fly south, too. Around 40,000 expats, many of them married to Thais, live around Udonthani.  A lot more expats live on Phuket and have wives from Udonthani, or nearby Isarn provinces.
